Deja Vu...or however you spell that. Here we go again..didn't i just write a blog entry this a.m.? Are there any blog rules that say how many blogs you can write in a day?
I got the Voice of Alumni paper from my Alma mater...Bob Jones University. I like to read through to see who got married ( but since I graduated in '89 I don't know most of the newly married crowd) , who had babies and so forth. I have noticed lately that several of my teachers from BJU have passed on. Many of them were older when I had them and I've been out almost 18 years from College...( wow! that hurts to say that). Guess what caught my eye was the insert this time for a lady name Velma Eubanks. She taught speech when I was at the university....retired in 1993. She went to BJU as a student herself in 1945 and graduated in 1950. She had served in the Women's Ary Corps in WWII. After graduation from BJU she joined the staff of the University Radio station , WMUU and taught speech part time. In 1958 she joined the staff full time. She completed her Master's degree in 1961 and continue teaching till her retirement in 1993. If my calculation are right she served the Lord in her capacity of teaching for almost 43 years. Her testimony was a wonderful one. The students remembered her for her compassion and kindness and for her personal interest in them as individuals. She prayed for each of her students by name every day. Miss Eubanks went home to be with the Lord on April 16 of this year. I also remember a teacher I had name Mrs. Mock who passed away a few years ago. I had her for one of my coaching classes. I had signed up for a summer mission team and was raising support. She went by my desk one day in class and slipped me a note. It said " My husband and I would like to support you with our prayers and a 100.00 donation towards your trip which I am giving to your Team Leader Mr. Hansel. I am a teacher too. I hope in 40 years that my students will have memories like that of me. I heard from one the other day telling me that I was her "favorite" teacher. As much as that makes my head swell, I want them to say " She was a godly teacher."
Food for thought.
