If you ask my children what they want to be, Daniel never had a real answer. He's just happy being five and working puzzles, playing with trains and going to school. Sean, however, is my dreamer hence all the photos on this post are of him. One month it's being a doctor ( with the whole outfit, mind you) The next month he's a baseball player or buzz lightyear. The next month he's a fireman or Peter Pan. This month he's a policeman. He asked me for a gun...and I politely told him "uh, no". I told him if we found something that pertained to policeman at the dollar store we might get it. So, on our visit to VA his grandmother bought him this little policeman outfit for 1.49...came with a vest, a plastic walkie -talkie, a policeman watch, and a small computer ( the screen was printed upside down, but he didn't care.) At church today we had a potluck dinner with our Sunday School class. Sean found out that his friends Lake and Kaden have a dad that's a police officer ( Highway Patrolman...close enough for Sean) He was elated....had to wear his policeman shirt tonight and when he saw Officer Steve he was all excited, rushed to get out of the van and made a bee-line for him to show him his shirt and plastic policeman watch. Steve oohed and ahead...Sean was proud ( You have a good man there Bethanne) All I heard after his nap today was " Who was that man with your friend..the policeman"....a new role model....hmmm
I thought about how much our kids idolize people. As parents we have an awesome responsibility to set up good role models for our children and more importantly to be good role models. I believe one of our jobs as believers and parents is to seek Christ and ask Him what He wants for our children and how we are to help achieve those things through Him. When our children are young, they will not always know in which direction to pray for their life. Certainly we can teach them. It is so important that we intercede for them just as Jesus Christ intercedes for us.It doesn't hurt to pray for their future too. I have heard of people praying for God to prepare the right spouse for their child one day. I pray that my children will make wise choices and they would never want to stray from God. I pray that I would be the mother God wants me to be for my kids. I don't really care what Sean and Daniel do in life as long as they "know" that God is in it. They might be businessmen, carpenters, fireman, policeman, teachers..whatever. I just pray they come to know him early and seek his will in everything they do in life. I pray they see mom and dad leading by example.

I got to spend a few minutes chatting with Sean today, he is the cutest thing ever!!! You and David are such great parents, there is nothing more you can do then teach them about Jesus and take them to church!!
Our children will have a lot of challenges facing them, our job is to give them the foundation to resist the temptations. They are never to young to start praying for their futures.
Good job mom and dad!!
ahhh..my faithful friend to comment..especially when I begged her too!
I like this background!!! Keep this one!!!!! (not that its any of my business you know)
Steve has some stuff for the boys (one of which is a badge) - he thought Sean might like it.
