After lunch yesterday we came home to nap. A nasty cold has taken over my being so I was hoping to "lay down". I heard a "sound" like wind blowing a trash can down the road. I wish that was all it had been. This is what we found. The high winds had blown one of our Bradford Pears over on the Ford Focus taking down our cable, phone and computer lines as well. One estimate of 500 dollars to remove tree from the car and take down the rest of the tree and 250.00 to cut back the other Bradford Pear , we are up and running with our Internet, etc. I hate we lost the tree. I really hate that the windshield in the focus didn't fare too well and that the car acquired a few dents here and there.
I don't think it helped that I was feeling rotten , I wanted a few estimates and my hubby only got "one", but hey....we are well and you can replace and fix cars, things, plant more trees, right?
Sean and I are hanging out today..he has the sniffles too....Daniel went off to school chomping at the bits to "tell Mrs. Brummett" all the excitement. And you know what Daniel learned? TREES are made of WOOD! He ran all around the tree ( after we determined the wind had died down and there was no threat of any trees falling on family members) He ran to the neighbor to announce that trees were made of wood! He knew..he saw it where the tree limb broke. Kind of broke the tension....Children still see "wonder" of things even in not too great circumstances.
My tip? Don't plant Bradford pears near where you'll be parking. We bought the house with the two huge trees already here. My brother said they were notorious for that kind of thing....now we know he's not joking!
I'm off to clean , humming as I go... " This is the day......" ( wink!)

Oh no! I am glad no one was hurt. I love the Wood story!
This would have been enough to send me over the edge! You are a woman of patience, and I applaud your perspective. May God work it all out...every last detail...in magnificent measure.

bummer about the care. But you're right- all that stuff can be replaced.
We have a huge tree (very tall) jus outside our bedroom. I keep putting off having the top cut off. Maybe I should get that done.
