Ok............ so today my sweet hubby gave me a birthday kiss when I opened my eyes and had for me on the stove ( of all places) a new Ipod to replace the one I washed and a gift card to JC Penneys! He also took me to Cheddars after church for lunch. I have refrained from cake at all...except for a small fork full yesterday...so today I may count that as my treat! I was thinking about the number 42....for some reason 42 didn't bother me as bad at 40 did....Here are some interesting facts about the number 42...other than it's my current age!
The angle for which a rainbow appears.
The number 42 appears in various contexts in Christianity. There are 42 generations (names) in the Gospel of Matthew's version of the Genealogy of Jesus; it is prophesied that for 42 months the Beast will hold dominion over the Earth (Revelation 13:5); 42 men of Beth-azmaveth were counted in the census of men of Israel upon return from exile (Ezra 2:24); God sent bears to maul 42 of the youths who mock Elisha for his baldness (2 Kings 2:23), etc.
42 goes back all the way to the very beginning of literature. The first book to be printed with movable type, the famous Gutenberg Bible, is also known as the '42-line Bible', after the number of lines of print on each page.
In the television series Star Trek: The Next Generation the star ship USS Enterprise (NCC-1701-D) has 42 decks.
The jersey number of Jackie Robinson, which is the first and only number retired by all Major League Baseball teams. Although the number was retired in 1997, the last baseball player to wear number 42, Mariano Rivera of the New York Yankees, is currently still playing.
The jersey number of football Hall of Famer, Ronnie Lott, safety for the San Francisco 49ers who retired his jersey number in 2003.
The jersey number of Pat Tillman, which was retired on November 13, 2004 by Arizona State University.
The number on Lee Petty's racing car in NASCAR
In New York City, 42nd Street is a main and very popular two-way thoroughfare. Landmarks on it include the Chrysler Building, Grand Central Station, the main branch of the New York Public Library, and Times Square. The New York City street is also the setting for a movie by the same name (which also gave fame to its eponymous title song), and which later inspired a musical adaptation, 42nd Street.
Daniel said he thought I was 30...good boy!
I got that pedicure and have me some "pink" toenails now. For some reason that felt sort of rebellish (is that a word? I need Bethanne to verify but she's on the way to the House of Mouse...grrrr) Let's just say it felt "rebellious" and then I'll cover my tracks and Greg won't hound the teacher of a wrong use of a word! "Wink" Greg!
Yesterday was Daniel's part at Fun Expedition. His little friends had a good time. David's mother and his brother and sister in law and their kids came over. After the party we went home to rest while they visited Sam's club, etc. and then we me them at the mall. We had plan to eat supper at the FireHouse Restaurant, a local favorite, but the wait was like 50 minutes , so we ended up at O'Charleys.
Today was church....a few "Happy Birthday Wishes" and a great Sunday school lesson made for a nice morning. Pastor's sermon on "service" give food for thought. What would our churches be like if we all had our place of service and did it well?
This afternoon is our church picnic. The big tent is up and ready for all that food. I've tried to be good on my Weight Watchers. I even did well this weekend, I thought. I'm not sure if I've lost much or not, but typical the pattern has been every two week I show a loss, so I'm not discouraged.
I think I'll grab a nap. This week will be busy getting the classroom ready. School is almost here!

Thanks for how you always encourage me through your comments on my blog. Happy Birthday sweet sister! Enjoy those rebellish pink tootsies!! :-)
Happy Birthday LuAnn! I forgot that you said it was your birthday right after Daniel's.
Hey 42 is being 21 twice, that's not too bad.
A+ for grammar and spelling today.
Since I wished you HAPPY BIRTHDAY on yesterdays blog for today, now that you have posted today, I'll say it again - HAPPY BIRTHDAY LUANN! (Notice I spelled it right)
HAPPY BIRTHDAY LUANN!!!!!!!!
(Can you believe it, I left you a comment)? Ann
Happy Birthday! I must say again you were lookin' good today, I could totally see the weight the loss. Okay maybe I couldn't see it because it is gone!!! LOL
Sounds like you had a lovely day, yeah for having such a sweet hubby!!
Well, young lady, Happy Belated Birthday. Sounds like everybody did what they were suppose to do and now Momma is happy. Greg, I told you not to confront a teacher, now she's ranting about all those 42's. Wonder what she will come up with when she's 43? Luanne, you must carry the mantle while Bethann's out of pocket, so lets hear the hummer.
Oh Eddie...I can't hold a candle to your daughter. I think I possess "hummer" (is that how you spelled it???) Humor is Beth gift in a "dry" sort of way. And the more she thinks on it when she's blogging the better she gets. I'll see if I can walk in her steps while she's gone, but don't stayed glued to the computer for anything too out of the norm! Beth talks about being too "old" at times??? I've got her beat by 7 years....and I'm still going strong! I have a niece almost her age...two actually! that makes me feel really old ( course I was just 8 and 10 when they were born)
It sounds like you had a wonderful birthday! Hope this is a great week for you.
