The weekend finally arrived. Yesterday at school I didn't feel well. Still don't today and don't really have a clue what's wrong. Might be a bug going around.
Please pray for my friend Trudy Owens. Trudy was a neighbor of mine in VA and also went to my former church. Trudy had been battling some issues with cancer a few years ago that seemed to be in remission. She is back in the hospital in Charlottesville, VA very critical but the doctors can't pinpoint her problem. She is swelling, had a swollen spleen, and has suffered a stroke. There seem to be no damage from her stroke. Trudy could really use your prayers and also her husband Kenny Owens and her daughter, son and their families. Trudy is my friend that offered to store my baby grand piano that was given to me by an elderly friend that was moving to Florida to live with her children. The piano is still stored in her basement. The last time I saw Trudy was on a Saturday that I was in VA and I went over to measure the piano. I enjoyed my talk with her so much. Please pray for her.
Also, pray for my friend Diane Wilson who had major back surgery last week. She is recovering and doing pretty well. She has been having some spasms related to the surgery. Diane lives in Lancaster, SC.
On a positive note, I've lost 36 pounds to date. I need to lose 3 more to reach another "personal" goal of mine. I had hoped to do that before Thanksgiving. We'll see. Cold, rainy weather dampens my zeal to walk or exercise for that matter.
I know this has been around for a long time, but I ran across it recently and enjoyed reading it again.
The 7 Ups!
1. Wake Up !!
Decide to have a good day.
'This is the day the Lord hath made;
Let us rejoice and be glad in it.'
Psalms 118:24
2. Dress Up !!
The best way to dress up is to put on a smile.
A smile is an inexpensive way to improve your looks.
'The Lord does not look at the things man looks at.
Man looks at outward appearance,
But the Lord looks at the heart.'
I Samuel 16:7
3. Shut Up!!
Say nice things and learn to listen.
God gave us two ears and one mouth,
So He must have meant for us to do twice as much listening as talking.
'He who guards his lips guards his soul.'
Proverbs 13:3
4. Stand Up!!
. . . For what you believe in.
Stand for something or you will fall for anything.
'Let us not be weary in doing good; for at the proper time,
We will reap a harvest if we do not give up.
Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good...'
Galatians 6:9-10
5. Look Up !!
To the Lord.
'I can do everything through Christ who strengthens me'.
Philippians 4:13
6. Reach Up !!
For something higher.
'Trust in the Lord with all your heart,
And lean not unto your own understanding.
In all your ways, acknowledge Him, and He will direct your path'
Proverbs 3:5-6
7. Lift Up !!
Your Prayers.
'Do not worry about anything; instead
PRAY ABOUT EVERYTHING.'
Philippians 4:6
A POSITIVE THOUGHT
If God had a refrigerator, your picture would be on it.
If He had a wallet, your photo would be in it.
He sends you flowers every spring, and a sunrise every morning.
Whenever you want to talk, He'll listen.
He could live anywhere in the universe, and He chose your heart.
What about the Christmas gift He sent you in Bethlehem ;
Not to mention that Friday at Calvary .
Face it, He's crazy about you.

I will certainly keep Trudy in my prayers. It's so hard to see our friends hurting.
Thanks for praying for my friend, Tara. I can't imagine how I'd be now losing my mom, much less at 27.
I'm glad you're surviving kindergarten. I knew you would!
I have a blogging friend, Becky (smileitsbecky.blogspot.com) and she also teaches kindergarten. The other day she posted something about disguising turkeys. You'll have to check it out. It was too cute.
I'm so proud of you for losing 36 pounds. That's awesome!
I'll talk to ya soon.
Have a good weekend.
Prayers have been sent for your friends and also for you to continue in your quest for your weight goal.
You've done a great job! Keep your eyes on Christ, your goal is at hand.
