Communication Gap

I've always loved "sayings"...you know the ones like...

"You can't get blood from a turnip"

"If I want your opinion I'll beat it out of you!"

"There's more than one way to skin a cat"

"That's the Pot calling the kettle black"

Unfortunately I live in a world of small people....you know...4,5 and 6 year old...and home and school. They don't always understand my train of thought when I thought I so beautifully articulated it to them.

The other day Daniel, my 6 year old, was not hurrying as fast as I would have liked. I nicely but with great feeling said ,"Dear, if you don't hurry I'm going to yank a knot in your behind"....to which he replied , "Mommy, what is a behind?" . I said ,"it's your bottom Daniel". He said , "Hum, oh..that's neat. Do they say that in China?"

Somewhere in all that conversation he missed the main point I was trying to make. I think I just make it more difficult.

I find myself trying to explain the gospel to the kids at school or to my own kids, or to a friend that is on my heart. It seems when I try to use my "own fancy" words, the message just gets more complicated. I was remind last week that "HIS WORD" will not return void, so I tried just using scripture when I was talking to a friend about their need for the Lord. It's not my job to do the saving, but it's my job to share the faith. I'm so glad when I don't always know what to say or how to say it that he promised his word would do the job and plant the seed.

Well, off to do some chores.

See ya later gators! In a while, crocodiles!

wink!

So many times I can't come up with the right words when I want to speak to someone about Christ.

Many times I'll just ask the Holy Spirit to speak through me or give me the words I need to say. Many times it's the simplest thing you say that really strikes a chord in someone.

I remember when we were little my mom would always tell us to "get on the ball." One time after she said that to one of us girls my little sister said, "I want to get on the ball." I always thought that was so cute.

Yes...God's Word will not return void. He promised!

They probably don't say that in China, but I bet your bottom dollar they say that in Dollywood!
