A little bit of this...a little bit of that.....

My phone hasn't rung this morning..so I'm hoping no school for me and Sean today. Last night we enjoyed a potluck dinner with our missionary Mark Davis at the home of our Sunday school teacher. We sat at the table with Mr. Davis and our friends Mark and Mechelle. We asked him question after question...some answers not so surprising and others I could hardly wrap my mind around. I did come away with the feeling that we know "nothing" much of sacrifice for the gospel's sake in our churches. We have a "cushy" sort of experience...not that we never do anything, but we could do , make that "I" could do so much more. Being intentional and looking for opportunities is alot of what it is about.

Dr. Feghaly preached Sunday morning. You can find a summary of his thoughts here:

http://www.gospeltoiraq.com/visiontoreality.html

I've been musing over some "ministry decisions" praying the Lord will help "me" get out of the way and see what he wants me to take on and not worry about "people" pleasing. You ever been there?

My friend Toby is having a hard time..her mother is very ill....Our Sunday School teacher shared that they are not sure of her mother's salvation and have offered to go and share with her. Pray for peace and comfort for Toby and her family and for her mother's salvation if she doesn't know the Lord. Cancer is a "bully" of a disease....It's hard on a family.

My kids are counting down the days till vacation. I'm kind of sorry we told them yet. Every day Daniel says "is this the day I go to school and then we go to the beach"....the anticipation of children is sweet to watch and absorb.

Daniel came out of childcare last night and said " Hey, did you know missionaries go around the world and tell people about Jesus"?? to which I replied "Why yes, I did know that". I said "You can be a missionary too", to which he replied, "Well, when I grow up" . I said "You can be one now to your friends"...he looked at me with a look of "this is a new concept". I think we adults get that mentality too..that we are only counted worthy if we hop a plane and go across the world. Be a dark place here if we are not points of lights where we are first..and if God chooses to send us far away then we will be well versed to carry that light to a dark place in a far away land.

Blessings!

Luann,

That conversation with Daniel got me choked up. Wow!! What a teachable moment! Way to go! I'd say that was definitely "being intentional" with him. I also went to have dinner with our missionary. I'm planning on blogging more about what the Lord is saying to me through all of this, but I haven't got all my thoughts together yet. I'll be praying for Toby...she is very sweet and I know it must be hard for her right now.

See you soon.

That is funny that I had the same conversation with Lake Sunday - about how missionaries go all over the world and he can be one too, but right now he is a missionary at his school and at the ball field, etc. This mission conference thing is really great for the missionaries, but also to help kids understand what it means to spread the good news.
Wouldnt it be awesome if our kids grew up and went to the mission field because of seeing these people at their own church?

LuAnn, have I ever told you about Sarah wanting to be a missionary to China? I need to, it is great. Now she is debating on Mexico. :)

Last night I was talking to David about going on a missions trip and Sarah was with me. She asked if I was going to be gone forever, and I said know just one week. She asked if I was going to be a missionary in America. I told her we are missionaries every day, no matter where we are. Whether it be at church, the playground, school......we should always be telling others about Christ and living our lives so that others will want to know more about Christ. She seem happy with that.
