I should have written a book by now. Did I ever tell you I wanted to put a devotional together? Don't know when....don't really know how to go about it, but I have that "thought" or "idea" of the direction I want to go. I'm kind of like the scarecrow in the Wizard of Oz...I go "both" ways.....I'll get to it maybe.
One book was little things my school kids have said over the years. I should have written them all down. You wouldn't believe some of them if I told you. One year in Bible we were having prayer request in third grade. A little boy raised his hand asking prayer for his grandmother. He said " She's bleeding eternally"! I chuckled and said "You mean internally. That means bleeding inside. Eternally means bleeding 'forever'. " To which he answered , "Well, she's been bleeding a long time!". Sam Seegar, another third grader who is very much a grown man now used to crack me up when doing pledges. We would pledge to the American Flag, the Christian Flag and then the Bible. In between we sang a song to go with each. After the American Flag we sang "My Country 'Tis of Thee". He would sing louder than any of the children and sing it like this ".......Land where my father's died, Land where the Pilgrim's Fried!"..Not sure what the pilgrim's were frying, but he never did get it correct the whole year!
Another book would be of my children. Daniel used to have his own "lingo" when he was little. When he saw a trash can he would get so excited. For real! He would say "AWAY, AWAY". Trash cans were simply called "aways". Televisions were Beedo's....don't have a clue unless he was trying to say video, and helicopters were "highdoodoo's". I know , my children are not right. Sean says "paper toilet" instead of toilet paper. Sean's speech is really more clear than Daniel's as far as speech is concerned and he thinks alot, at least out loud. He crawled in my bed yesterday about 4:00 a.m. and whispered "Mommy, Jesus isn't in my bed with me anymore, I think he's just in yours". We've been battling him staying in his bed all night and I've told him Jesus is always with us..nothing to fear. According to Sean, Jesus checked out of his room somewhere around 4:00 a.m. He must have left again today because Sean was back. Sean and Daniel both are piecing together the story of Jesus. Sean got upset one day and said " I don't want Jesus to take my feelings away". All I could figure is he was talking about Jesus taking our sins away. One day he told me he wasn't sure he liked Jesus. Trying not to overreact I said "um, tell me why Sean". He said it was because his "Pa" , my dad was in heaven, and heaven was far away, and if Jesus came into you heart you had to go to heaven, and he didn't want to go far away, he's rather just have Jesus and still live in this house in Johnson City with me. Kids...you gotta love 'em.
My all time favorite is with Sean again. Daniel was at school at it was a day I didn't have to sub. We have a local seafood place called Harbor House. Good Christian folks that run the place and good seafood. Sean and I had enjoyed a nice lunch there and got up to leave. I usually get the rest of our drinks in a to-go cup and was helping Sean find his on the table when I looked down and noticed a pair of Spider Man underwear on the floor. I thought "oh my word....static electricity! Sean had carried a pair of underwear in his pant leg with us. I chuckled and stuffed them in my purse quickly. Funny feeling came over me....not sure why...and very gently pulled Sean over to me and grabbed the elastic on his pants and "looked" , surely not! But it was...he wasn't wearing any underwear! How in the world! All I can figure is that he's been going potty on his own for a while. Sometime he gets in a hurry and must have just gotten one foot in one of the holes and then pulled up the pants. I'm big on hand washing and he hurried to do that before he was finished "dressing". I've never laughed so hard. Now when we pass that place Sean will say " That's where you lose your underwear!"
Today is the first day we haven't had to run here and there. I hope to start packing for our trip. We leave sometime in the early hours on Monday and stay through the next Saturday. We'll start back from the Outer Banks on Saturday and finish our trip on Sunday. The kids are excited.

Pray for my friend Toby. Her mother passed away on Tuesday and the service was last night. Cancer is a mean thing. God is still good.
I've been doing a little Kindergarten preparation for the fall..mostly deep breathing exercises! ha! No, not really. I've found there are alot of resources on line.
Had a meeting last night at LaCaretta ( Mexican) for the next women's ministry event.
We are doing jewelry making class. This should be interesting! We can't find anyone to "teach" the class, so we think we may just try to learn on our own and teach it ourselves! Oh me oh my.
Look for us on the next episode of "What Not to Wear!"
We finally got our car back from the body shop...remember the tree fell on it? David said he'd never seen that car so clean.
I got a call yesterday from a good friend. She just wanted me to find her a praise verse she could quote over and over. Something good had happened in her life and she was so grateful. I loved getting that call......how special that she felt like she could call and just chat about being "grateful". I love it!
I need to get ready for my day, feed my children breakfast and put a card in the mailbox. We are on a hunt for our swimming trunks....for my children that is....it may be the year we have to go "buy" some. We love hand me downs and the Lord has really blessed us with lots of them over the years.
Have a super day!
Blessings!

Hello!
I'm so glad you stopped by my blog to say "hello."
Yes, my grandma is one very unique, special lady.
I enjoyed the funny stories you shared. I taught kindergarten for 17 years and I always had funny stories to share with my family.
I think I miss that almost more than anything.
I am anxious to read more of your blog. We are huge fans of the Andy Griffith show. Those re-runs are priceless and I never get tired of seeing them.
I'll talk to you again soon.
Love,
Valerie
I want to comment on your last two posts. First, about Mayberry - my favorite place! To show you how old I am, Mayberry was on when I was growing up and every time I hear the opening song, good memories and feelings come back. Jerry and I have dvd's of the first few years and watch them all the time. Mayberry is the kind of town God would have us live in here on earth. Now to today's post - please, please write down the things your boys say. DO IT RIGHT NOW! You think you will remember, but trust me, you WILL forget. I can hear my Grandmother now telling me when my girls were small "write their name and age on the back of their pictures". Right! I'll NEVER forget whose picture that is or when it was taken.WRONG! Age has a way of messing up the memory. Thanks for sharing your funnies with us.
Have a safe trip! We have appreciated the hand-me-downs we've received too.
It sounds like you could write a couple books.
I love hearing about peoples kids, mine where odd sometimes as well, and then I watch my hubby and then I understand where they go it from... I love him but he is just kind of odd...
I will add Toby to my prayer log...
I pray that you have a great weekend...

I love your blog! I too remember growing up with Andy...still a great show to watch and yes, the morals imbedded in the stories. Good clean TV watching.
Would you believe I have never been to the Outer Banks!! Born and raised here in NC but never have been there (of course there are still lots of places I have not visited in NC!) I know...that is a shame and I still want to go someday!
Thank you for visiting my blog...I hope you will visit again! (I would like to add your blog to my list.)
~Beth~
Hi there. Thanks for the visit to my blog. I too am like you and would like to write a book or maybe a devotional. I started my blog two-fold: I love to write and I've been told I have a wonderful way of words. God spoke to me and told me to start my blog so I'm primarily using my gift to glorify Him and hopefully encourage other people.
