Roanoke Island, Aquarium, Poor Richards and flies!

Love is everywhere

Roanoke Marshes Lighthouse

Today was a hot one at OBX. We had planned to let the kids play in the sand dunes at Jockey Ridge State Park. I read that the sand temperature is usually 30 degrees hotter than the actual, so with the temp being 95 we axed that idea! We went back to Bodie Lighthouse to go in the light house keepers cottage and the base of the lighthouse itself. Then we head to Roanoke Island again and a little of Manteo. We took the kids to the NC aquarium and then to the Waterfront to see the Roanoke Marshes lighthouse which looks more like a house with a light on top. We ate at a little sandwich shop called Poor Richards.
Ice Cream after Poor Richard's...compliments of Mommy!
We were hot and starved and it tasted good, too. We headed back to Kill Devil Hills and hit the pool. Oh my was that wonderful. Sean met to new friends that looked to be in their 60's...Pauline and Helen....accents lead me to believe they are from England or thereabouts...I just know it isn't the East Tennessee drawl!
Daniel's attempt at photography...the "headless mommy"
Sean's attempt.,...a little better...windy day!

NC Aquarium

We headed down to the beach and the flies were awful! David's leg must have been the main course. We managed to get in a little water time and the kids made a new friend...Faith. Don't know anything about her..she just showed up with her dad! Sean didn't care...he can talk to anyone.

Tomorrow we check out of this motel and head for a night in Hatteras. We'll see Hatteras and Ocracoke and then Friday night head back to Nags Head for a night.

I can never look at the ocean or the moon for that matter than I don't think of our wonderful Creator..isn't he marvelous?

"When I consider the works of your hands, the sun moon and stars above...what is man that thou thinkest of him who is so unworthy of thy Love? Oh, Lord, our Lord, how majestic is thy name...."
a few lines from a song taken from Scripture.

Till tomorrow!

I was just at the aquarium a couple of weeks ago with my son. Sounds relaxing...sort of. We're heading out on vacation in a few weeks to Gatlinburg. I'm a mountain girl all day long!

what a great tribute to your dad. My dad taught me truth too. when I lost him in 2001 I knew that I had a treasure of knowledge he gave to me. Time to pass it on to my kids.

We are still in OBX. We don't live too far from Pigeon Forge...we go a few times a year. We have Dollywood Passes. Hope to use them sometime this summer.

God Bless!
