Wright Brother's Memorial, Currituck Lighthouse and tired tired tired!

Fun in the Sun

Before I start I read my friend Beth's blog and her mother was in a bike accident on Roan Mtn.

in TN and was being air lifted to Johnson City Medical. She was unconscious when I read the latest post. Please pray for Donna Kilday. I just love that lady. We spent a weekend together and the E-Women Conference that came to Johnson City. Love her to pieces. Please pray.

What a full but fun day. We got up early and had our gourmet continental breakfast ( I'm married to Mr. Save a buck when ya can! fine with me) The almost right across the street is the Wright Bros. Memorial. WE spent longer their than we thought. Interesting place. Great view of the ocean and surrounding towns from the Dune the memorial is on. I was hoping my boys would be inspired to become a pilot....somehow I think Sean has more of "Podiatry" on the brain. Yep, my wiggle worm drove me crazy till he discovered my "calloused heel" during the presentation...and you'd think I would have stopped his curiosity...but it was the most peaceful time during the whole presentation....Yep, that's Sean working on getting a little piece of callous to let go..I know we "ain't" right!

We stopped in Duck,NC at a little walk up window joint called "Baldie's Burgers and Shakes". Oh my, that was the best burger I've had in I don't know when! We ate in the van to beat it all.

We ventured down to Corrolla, NC and found the Currituck Lighthouse. Daniel and I scaled it first and it was awesome. He did great, too! Sean was at the bottom with his daddy weeping and wailing....no lie... we were so embarrassed. WE didn't think he'd make the climb...he had been begging to be carried all morning. After my successful climb with "thing one" I convinced David to take "think two" up. He about out climbed his dad....and was so proud waving from the top. I was so proud of him.
PROUD TO REACH THE TOP

Daniel loves puzzles and so does my mother. My brother comes fishing at Hatteras every year and has brought my mother back a series of puzzles by an artist named Cotton Ketchie. Ketchie is my maiden name and we are some how related to him. If you like Thomas Kincaid you'd like Cotton Ketchie. Daniel and I were on a hunt to find a few of those puzzle and we finally did fine two of them. He's so proud. One was of Currituck.

We are dining "high on the hog" as we say in NC and TN...it's Wendy's tonight and yes we are eating "in". We are tired, have had our baths to remove the sand from our afternoon on the beach and are ready to eat and relax...after all that's what you are supposed to do on vacation, right?

Hey girl,
Looks like y'all are continuing to have a great time, seeing lots of beautiful and interesting things.
I would love to see those lighthouses. When you get back I want every bit of info. My mom is just crazy about lighthouses and I think she and I need to take a trip. My hubby would like it too, so maybe we'll all go.
We would fly and then rent a car....if it's not too difficult to get around. We've driven in 6 lanes of traffic in L.A. I'm sure I can drive almost anywhere. :)
Seriously, it looks beautiful and these are things your kids will never forget. The parents get really tired and it's a lot of work to do some of the things that are so special, but it's worth it.
Have another fun day. Thanks for checking in!
Val

It's not difficult at all to get around here....we went back to Manteo today to the aquarium and ate on the waterfront at a little sandwhich place. You'e like it I'm sure.
