Yesterday we celebrated the fourth with most of the leadership team from Sunday school. We enjoyed the fellowship and some neighborhood fireworks that weren't too bad actually. Grilled chicken ( 2 different types) lots of side dishes and desserts made for a good meal. We got home around 11:00 and the house was unusually quiet. We took our boys to meet "Yangy" as Daniel calls her. (David's mom). When he was little we tried to call her "granny" but he couldn't say it and it evolved to Yangy and it stuck. Funny thing is that Sean calls her "Nangy" ( he used to say Nanny). Their cousin calls her Mamaw and a myriad of foster children David's brother has had calls her Grandma. I guess it doesn't matter as long as they call you, right?
I think we'll hit the farmers market this morning in downtown JC and then head to VA to grill out with David's family and pick up our kids.
I was thinking about many things recently and the realization that our minds really are a battlefield washed over me. Here are some verses that I've found that remind me that we have no need to worry or fret....it might be human nature, but we have the Lord who is in full control.
John 14:1 "Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in me".
"Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths." Proverbs 3:5-6
"Behold, God is my salvation, I will trust and not be afraid." Is 12:2
"He who trusts in his own heart is a fool...." Proverbs 28:26
"Whenever I am afraid, I will trust in You.In God... I have put my trust; I will not fear. What can flesh do to me?" Psalm 56:3
"The Lord also will be a refuge for the oppressed, a refuge in times of trouble. And those who know Your name will put their trust in You." Psalm 9:9-10
"He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.I will say of the Lord, 'He is my refuge and my fortress; My God, in Him I will trust.'" Psalm 91:1-2
"...it is good for me to draw near to God; I have put my trust in the Lord God, that I may declare all Your works." Psalm 73:28
and my all time favorite verse...has been for years...
"The Lord is good, a stronghold in the day of trouble; And He knows those who trust in Him." Nahum 1:7
Hope you had a great Fourth of July! I don't have much time to post any photos of yesterday but I'll try to do that soon. I saved most of my WW points for last night..boy was it good...and I guess I'll do the same for today.
I found this online and got a chuckle....I'll leave you with this...
