Wednesday Daniel and I had our teethed cleaned. I was in one chair and he was in the next booth. I could hear the dental hygienist talking to him. I had to chuckle and some of his responses..it was just too cute. They were choosing the flavor of the toothpaste they'd use, the cartoon character he wanted on his new toothbrush, the flavor she's use to polish his teeth, what color Sunglasses he'd wear when she used the bright lights to see his teeth..so many choices! When he was done I heard her say "Do you want to watch some cartoons till Dr. Bo comes to check your teeth?" Of course he said "yes". Funny bird...she turned it on and she said "Oh there's Sponge Bob, do you want that?" He said "Oh, I love Sponge Bob!"...hmmmm I couldn't say much...I had two dental hygienist hands in my mouth..but we NEVER watch Sponge Bob. I didn't overreact..I don't hate the Sponge...just don't particularly care for his rudeness...so we just don't watch it. He didn't ever tell her he was "allowed" to, but you could tell that the forbidden fruit was tasting "sweet" at the moment.
I'm alot like that in my Christian walk. It's easy to do right when you are with those who want to do right ( and I'm not saying Sponge Bob is "wrong" for your family, he's just not for us) but when we get where we thing no one sees us the temptations are greater. Dr. Bob used to say to us in Chapel at BJU " Character is what you are in the dark when no one sees you". The reality is God sees us...all the time. It's work to practice our walk in public and in private but God if faithful to help us do that.
And to think....I was reminded of that by a yellow sponge! Go figure!
It's Friday and I have no where I have to be...some great folks from church called to offer us some children's clothes and books. We love hand me downs....( sound like beggars , don't we?)
The kids are begging to go to Bear 'n Friends...a local toy store that carries the wooden toys. Daniel wants to play on the Thomas train table. We have a generic train table...Daniel's mommy is "cheap".
We may take in Dollywood Saturday. We have season passes...so maybe one last "hurrah" before school. The kids want to go back to see more lighthouses...our Outer Banks trip was a hit.....unfortunately we need a year to recover $$$$$ wise.
Have a blessed day!

You are exactly right that spongebob is the rudest sponge I have ever met!
Dollywood? Fun.
Don't have a clue about Sponge Bob, but I'm glad your sensitive to what your children watch. Just remember, your son was doing just what his nature told him to do. We are all stinking sinners and outside God giving us direction and conviction, we would all watch Sponge Bob or something real juicy that would teach us what Satan wants us to do. I like the idea of the Light houses. I have many in my office and love to visit them. Question: Do you know where most of the lighthouses are in the U.S.? Will wait for your answer.
Hey Eddie,
I think Michigan has the most lighthouse, with something like 130 to see. I had to look that one up!! I still want to go to Maine to see those....I hear they are something else.....We were very pleased with our trip this year.
My dad the trivia king....who knew?
We used to buy him lighthouses for b-days and Christmas, he has them in his office at the church.
I've never seen Spongebob myself but he isn't one I'd let my son watch either just from impressions I've seen of it playing in waiting rooms and such.
Hooray for hand me downs!
Well, I have been trying to catch up on posts and really have nothing to write on this subject since my kids watch the sponge. Should I duck before the stones start flying? LOL
I hope you have a great time at Dolly's place, we haven't been yet. I think we will wait till the weather cools down........Dwood in the summer is brutal.
