I've been to Disney 3 times in my life. Twice with my parents and the last time was on my Senior Trip in High School in 1984. Bethanne's trip has caused me to go down memory lane. I remember staying at the Contemporary Resort Hotel with my parent's once and at the Dutch Inn which is now the Grovenor Inn. The Swimming pool was shaped like a windmill.
Here are some Disney "fun facts".
When Walt was younger he was hired to work at the Kansas City Star newspaper. He was later fired from the paper because of lack of creativity. Years later The Disney Company bought ABC which owned The Kansas City Star. How strange that he was fired because he was not creative enough and years later you own them because of your creativeness.
"Disney" is actually a changed version of Walt's family's original name. The original name was D'Isigny. It was around the year 1044. Originally from France, Isigny-Sur-Mer was the area that Walt's relatives came from. Can you imagine planning a trip to D'Isignyland?
How far apart are the trash cans? Walt Disney ate a hot dog in Disneyland and counted how many steps it took to finish it. It took him 17 steps (I think), which is the spacing used in every Disney park today.
There are many hidden Mickey's if you go to Walt Disney's former home in Beverly Hills. The iron gate to the mansion seems to have a curly design in the ironwork...but tilt your head slightly and notice that these curls are Mickey's head.
Goofy was Walt's favorite character.
On average 15 children get lost every day in the Magic Kingdom and have to be reunited with their parents by Cast Members. The longest time that a child's parents went missing was 7.5 hours!
The Magic Kingdom does 68 tons of laundry per day and generates 115 pounds of lint!!
For every three trees you see in the Magic Kingdom, there is one tree "behind the scenes" that is the similar size and looks. These trees are kept in case a tree is damaged during a storm it can be replaced at night without anyone knowing it was missing!
Hope you are having a ball, Bethanne....sniff sniff...no jealousy here...sniff sniff
Think she'll be flattered at all the blogging that's gone on about her during her absence?

Those were some good facts.
Did you know Disney was born on the north side of Chicago? They've even listed his address in some of his biographies. The house is still standing and is just owned by a regular family. They never made it an historic place.
I was at Disney World once, in 1977. Epcot Center wasn't even built yet, that's how long ago it was.
I'm sure she will be surprised at all our discussion about her. I haven't been to Disney in many years. When I was younger we went all the time. I hope that we will be able to go again sometime in the next year or so. The place I remember the most in Disney is "It's A Small World". I don't know why I remember that so much but everytime I think of Disney that is the first thing that comes to my mind. Bethanne called yesterday and asked me to identify the sound on the phone....guess what...it was It's a Small World. Love it!
Well, it's obvious that Greg is letting down on his spelling cop job or perhaps he has taken my advice and not confront the teacher. I do believe that Beth will have some catching up to do when she returns unless you finds a computer at the mouse store and decides to check in. Remembering our trips to Disney reminds me that Lisa and Beth both loved It's a small World afterall. I wasn't all that fond of any of it, but the girls loved every minute of it. I believe I could probably have a good time today with my girls at Disney because today I realize how important spending time with family really is. Maybe again, who knows.
I decided to stop being the "spelling cop" because these readers really don't know me and they probably think I should get a life! I'm just kidding with the spelling thing.
I'm really very normal..... sort of...
