Thursday Thoughts

Today was my last day in the Mother's Day out Program. I have next week to run errands and such and then the following week is Teacher In-Service week.

Today after work a few of us went out with our kids to get an ice cream ( my kids, not me!) and just talk. We were talking some about folks we know that need the Lord. One of the girls had been praying for one person specifically, praying for an opportunity to talk with her, and low and behold if she didn't "come" to this friend of mine and flat out "ask" what it meant to check on a form she had filled out whether she knew the Lord or not. She asked if it was a "big deal". Of course that opened a door that anyone would have been foolish not to follow up on. She didn't receive the Lord that day, but the next day she most certainly did. I walked away encouraged and motivated.

Eddie, Bethanne's dad has a great post this week....check it out and Eddie's Place.( see my side bar.) When Bethanne starts doing my blog for me like she does her parent's and such I'll have the link right in the paragraph....I'm sure it's easy to do, I'm just too tired to try to figure it out! ha ha

Here are somethings I read online today:

I read online today where a church out of state was putting up a new steeple. An older couple was in there car on the property watching it all take place when the crane snapped and the steeple crushed the car. The man was killed and the wife was in the hospital, expected to survive. My heart ached for that congregation and that family.

Another story was about a funeral home:
The family of Lillian Grogan expected to view the embalmed remains of the 91-year-old woman. Instead, they said they found another woman wearing the grandmother's dress and her favorite bracelet. Someone was in a hurry , don't ya think?

I find this one disturbing.:

A San Francisco group wants to name a city sewage plant afterPresident Bush. They've even got the initiative on the November ballot. "It's typical San Francisco crazies," a local Republican Party leader tells the UPI. ( My thoughts: There have been many canidates and Presidents I didn't care for personally regarding there policies and moral grounds, but I ALWAYS taught my students to pray for those people and we NEVER disrespected them. Makes me sick)

Genealogists might be onto something. Apparently, Barack Obama is a distant cousin of actor Brad Pitt, and Hillary Rodham Clinton is related to girlfriend, Angelina Jolie. Now that's a family reunion.

WELLINGTON, New Zealand - A family court judge in New Zealand has had enough with parents giving their children bizarre names here, and did something about it.
Just ask Talula Does The Hula From Hawaii. He had her renamed.
Judge Rob Murfitt made the 9-year-old girl a ward of the court so that her name could be changed, he said in a ruling made public Thursday. The girl was involved in a custody battle, he said.
The new name was not made public to protect the girl's privacy. ( I have no comment other than how cruel)

Did I tell you we are overwhelmed with Veggie Tales at our house right now? I told Sean the other day after he hounded me over and over to listen to his Veggie Tales Sunday Morning songs in the van that I just didn't want to hear Veggie Tales right then. I wanted to Listen to my praise and worship tape. He looked at me with those big eyes and said " but mommy, I love them". He also informed me that Gabby's mom didn't fuss at her about Veggie Tales.....I didn't know I was "fussing!" This morning I just needed my Scott Krippayne for the morning and I said " Mommy will have her music going to school and you can have yours coming home." I was ready for the "battle" , but he loving said " that will be fine mommy." I wasn't prepared for that. I think the Lord new that mommy wasn't going to make it through the day on "The Belly Button Song"....Kids....I'd be lost without them.

We have a huge tent on our church lawn..I mean one of the big ones. I told the boys that it was for our church picnic Sunday and Sean said " Is it for your birthday?" I chuckled...I somehow can't see David springing for a tent that size to throw me a bash.... I will say he tried hard.
I had a friend whose husband bought her a tow rope for her car for her birthday one year. ????? Doesn't that just say "romantic" all over it???

My men are off to Big Lot's and I'm off to soak in the tub. I think last night's lack of sleep is catching up with me...but I didn't feel bad today.....so that's a plus.

I have an unspoken request...and I'll leave it at that. Thanks for the prayers in advance!

While I was reading your blog about the women who showed up just after her name had been mentioned and how God used someone to share Christ with her, I was reminded of a women in Honduras. She had thought about coming to the clinic but decided not too, just too much of a hassle. She and her husband got into an argument and he cut her arm with a Machete(long knife) and he had to bring her either to the clinic or to a hospital. He chose the clinic because it was free. Her arm was sowed up and as they shared Christ with her, she prayed to recieve Christ. Her husband was being shared with by a doctor. He prayed to recieve Christ. The moral of the story is God has a plan and He will do whatever it takes to make that plan work and He can even take what Satan means for harm and turn it into what He means for good.

Hey LuAnn.
I'm trying to get caught up on my blogs. Since we've been on vacation w/out a computer it may take me a while.
The accident with the older couple viewing the steeple being put on the new church building happened in OKC just 40 miles or so from us.
As I watched the story on the news I just couldn't help but wonder why something like that would happen. They said the wife was treated and released and her son who didn't want to be shown on camera said his mom was doing exceptionally well. I know that God has a plan for each and every life and we must trust that His will is being done and that ALL things work together for good. (Rom. 8:28)
Please pray for a friend of mine. Her daughter just had a baby on July 7 and my friend was babysitting while the daughter and son-in-law went to a concert Wed. evening. The son-in-law was on a motorcycle and was killed after the concert. My friend's daughter and husband just married a little over a year ago, just bought a new home and just had this precious little girl. My daughter works with my friend and it's been very difficult for her. They had just brought the little baby girl into the office the day of the accident.
My friend is Kellie and her daughter is Andrea.
Thanks for your prayers. I'm not sure when the funeral will be.
He was a coach/teacher and will be missed by many.
On a different note....I know you're getting excited about school beginning. I want you to know you are in my prayers as you plan, decorate and get your lesson plans ready.
Have a great weekend.
Love,
Valerie
