Out of the Mouths of Babes....

Today was a sweet day at school...Grandparent's Day. Our school hosts 2 separate programs....one for the Four year old classes up through 2nd grade and another for 3rd - 6th grades . Grandparents are invited to come enjoy approx. a 30 minutes program of songs, poems, verses, etc. and then some light refreshments. A parent who owns a florist shop donated beautiful long stem carnation for the kids to give the grandparents. I was moved as I sat in the bleachers with my class facing the sea of parents and grandparents to watch a mother sing along with her son's class with tears streaming down her face as they sang "Blessed Be the Name of the Lord." Maybe it ministered to her because of something that was going on in her life, or maybe she was moved to see her son singing that wonderful praise song. Whatever it was , her being moved surely moved me. I listened as my little cuties recited Mark 10:14b along with our other Kindergarten class..."Suffer the little children to come unto me, and forbid them not...for such is the kingdom of heaven." I listened to the words that the second graders sang in "Blessed Be the Name." ....."He Gives and Takes Away....my heart can truly say , Blessed be the name". It took me back to a few times in my life when at first I didn't think I could say those words. Why God are you allowing this? Are you still there? Did you leave me all alone? Maybe it's growing in the Lord over time, but it is an amazing thing to be able to look back at a crisis and still say, "Bless your name Lord". What an awesome God who can carry us through the toughest "Ike" we will ever face in our lives. What a joy to mature and learn to lean on Him, something I've not always wanted to do. Turning over the reigns isn't an easy thing for someone who likes to be in control. I wonder how many families that were affected by 9/11 can sing those words? I know there are those who can that were affected by that tragedy.

I'm so glad that little children in worship today brought that to my mind..I forget all too quickly..what a sobering reminder of a good God and his great mercies to me..........

I clicked on Blessed Be The Name and sang right along with it. I love that song!

I sure am glad I'm the only one in the house. None of my neighbors have called the police yet to report hearing a wounded moose.

Do you remember Art Linkletter's program,"Kid's say the darndess things". Children are God's utensil's for leading adults to where God is. I believe that's why Christ said, "Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of heaven." Matt 19:14

I am always so touched when I attend anything children are a part of. They are so sweet and innocent and their faith in God and their knowledge of His love for them is so precious.
What a wonderful day for these families. I pray you are enjoying your school year and realize the blessing you are to these kids as well.
I love this song too!
