"I Will Obey My Teacher"

"I will obey my teacher, I will obey my teacher". My oldest son in in kindergarten. He's concerned everday about who in his class has their name on the board or has to "write a paper". ( that must be writing sentences...how big of a paper can you write in K-5??) Yesterday I subbed at his school and his teacher and I were talking about The kids writing sentences and just the general end of the year excitement and hyper- activity ( is that a word) that all the kids seem to be expressing. Wouldn't you know that my little prince came home yesterday and in his notes folder was a "paper". Yep...18 times " I will obey my teacher". I'm still not sure I got the right story, but I gathered enough to know he was talking when he shouldn't have been. We talked about the importance of obeying and being concerned whether his name was on the board and not being concerned with everyone else. You learn alot from your kids, don't you? You do if you sit back and take it what they say and do. I'm just like Daniel with Jesus many time. I cringe to think how many times I would have to write " I will obey my Heavenly teacher" if He chose to have me do that. I know what to do, I've heard it over and over. I ve read it over and over and I still fall short in many areas. I'm glad when Daniel responds to his sentence writing and doesn't do it again....or at least for a while. Life is a series of lessons...learning them, forgetting, them, re-learning them. I am a work in progress. I have the best Teacher who has given me the most awesome textbook available..and he's the author....another challenge to get in the Word and be a good student...learning and then applying! I want that A++ on my final exam..don't you?
