Catching Up on the Weekend

David and I had a great weekend away...or rather a great overnight. It was a short trip, but a good one. We joined about 31 other couples at the General Morgan Inn in Greeneville, Tennessee for a marriage retreat. Our associate pastor Darryl Crouch conducted the seminars. The theme was Connected for Life and we came away with some great reminders. Friday night we stayed up till about ten playing games. Our group played "spoons" which is a fast moving card game with "spoons" obviously. Let's just say I really got into that one. I haven't laughed that hard in a long time. The Inn was a nice place...great room with those bed that feel like you are floating on air. When the conference was over David and I drove around Greeneville, then made our way back to Johnson City to tend to our cats. We then drove to VA another hour or so to eat with my in-laws at Applebee's and then visit for a little while before bringing the kids home. Grandma and Grandpa had a great weekend visiting with the kids. I hope to make a trip to see my mother soon.

Today was a good day at church. Pastor finished up his series on service. Sunday school was a lesson discussing the qualities in a good pastor. We had a substitute since our teacher was off enjoying a night at a Bed and Breakfast that we gave him for Christmas last year. We have a few more Sunday's with him as our teacher. He's moving to an 8:00 a.m. Sunday school and we are staying at the 11:00 a.m. hour. It's bitter sweet.

I spend the afternoon in my classroom getting ready for the week. There is a lot of "tearing" out of things and getting charts ready, etc.

Hope you had a great weekend.
I tried posting some pictures from the weekend, but alas it wouldn't work today...I'll try tomorrow!

Nite!

LuAnn, I'm glad you and David had a great weekend. That is so very important in a marriage.

I was also curious. You said you were warned about a student in your class before school started. How is that little guy?

Glad you had a nice weekend! Your comment on Spoons reminded me of our college days. We would play that with a group in the dorm lobby on weekend nights. Fun memories!

I'm so glad you and your husband got to get away. Sounds like you had lots of fun.
I love the picture of the inn where you stayed.
I hope all is going well for you at school. Our school started today and everything seemed to go smoothly.
Today the temp. here was 74 degrees! Very unusual for Oklahoma in August. I'm not complaining though.
Have a good week.
